Support for coeliac disease on tonight’s Channel 4 news

Coeliac UK takes the prescriptions campaign to mainstream media

Following Sarah Sleet’s interview on Channel 4 on 28 March we are pleased to report that Clare Gerarda GP and former chair of the RCGP supports a special case being made for coeliac disease in terms of NHS support, saying: “Coeliac [disease] is a different issue which we have to work at separately.”

Gerada also supported alternative, more cost effective models of delivering services for people with coeliac disease such as reimbursement for foods rather than prescribing which takes up GPs’ time.

We are going to be following up on today’s developments to see how we can take this forward after today’s national platform for our prescriptions campaign.
